Our boarding facility has limited kennels, especially during peak season time where we are frequently at 90 - 100% occupancy. When we are at capacity, the lack of space may force us to turn away some clients for boarding. When clients pick up their dogs early, cancel reservations, or change reservations without an appropriate amount of notice (at minimum 48 hours), it is frequently too late for us to fill the kennel space that we reserved for them because the clients that we turned away have already made other arrangements. This causes us to lose a tremendous amount of income because that kennel is then left vacant. Due to the loss of revenue as a result of no shows, untimely cancelations, schedule changes, and early pick-ups, we have implemented the following cancellation policies.
Happy Tails Boarding requires, at the minimum, a 48 hour notice for cancellations or reservation schedule
changes. A $25.00 cancellation fee for each kennel reserved will be assessed if the reservation is not canceled at least 48 hours in advance. If the reservation is over 4 days there will be a charge of 50% of the stay. Clients that fail to provide us with at least a 48 hour notice for early pick-ups will be charged for the whole day of the scheduled reservation check-out day.

Our vaccination requirements for dogs to be boarded at Happy Tails are as follows:
Rabies – Current (Each veterinarian is different, some give 1,2 & 3 year)
Distemper/Parvo – Current (Each veterinarian is different, some give 1 & 2 year)
Bordetella/Kennel Cough – Required Every 6 Months
All dogs must be on some type of flea and tick prevention.
It is very important that you check your veterinarian records closely prior to drop off. Any animals that do not meet our vaccination requirements will be unable to be left for their pre-scheduled booking. Feel free to contact us with any questions regarding our vaccination policy. Please Note: If forms and vaccination records are presented at drop off, the kennel technician will inspect the records prior to your pet being escorted into the kennel. If vaccination records are not up to date, your pet will be turned away. Once your forms are on file, you will only be required to keep us up to date on any new vaccinations your dog receives.

From a very young age I had a passion for animals and I knew animals needed to be in my future. I have been a pet owner my entire life, owning multiple breeds of dogs and other pets like cats, turtles, fish, hamsters, and even a lizard. My most recent furry family member is a 4.5 pound YorkiPoo who goes by the name Oliver. Oliver is a 10 year old man with an attitude and does not do well in stressful situations. He can also be very selective about his friends. The idea of Happy Tails all started from one of the first times I had to board him in a boarding facility. I realized how important it was to me that he was well taken care of and I wasn’t 100% sure that was going to happen in the place I had to leave him. I was nervous my entire trip and could not wait to get back to pick him up. I knew I couldn’t be the only one feeling this way and that’s when the idea of Happy Tails was born. I needed to provide a service above and beyond all the others available in our area.
I have taken Pet First Aid which will come in handy at both work and home. I look forward to interacting one on one with the customers and tours of my facility are always welcome. The most important thing to me is that you as a pet owner feel confident and secure leaving your pet in my care. I look forward to working with such a variety of dogs and cannot wait to meet all of your pups in person.
Happy Tails strives to provide the absolute finest care for your best friend. Our state of the art indoor/outdoor suites allow the animals the choice to lounge in the sun or enjoy the temperature controlled indoor facilities. Large play areas, a sensory log, dipping pool when the weather allows, and outdoor play equipment are provided for your pets’ enjoyment. All boarded dogs are walked daily and have endless hours of playtime. Nightly treats and goodnight snuggles is our favorite part of the day. We love your pet as much as you do.
Let our full time groomer pamper your best friend during their stay or just for the day. Choose from our many grooming packages or just choose an a la carte service. From baths to haircuts our groomer does it all. Let Charity provide your best friend with unlimited free cuddles and a full makeover.
Our facility is fully licensed with the state and inspected regularly. Over-night boarded guests are required to provide proof of vaccinations. These vaccinations include a yearly booster for Distemper and Parvo, proof of Rabies vaccination, Bordetella booster every 6-9 months, and be free of internal/external parasites.
My name is Charity Nevin, and I have been the groomer at Happy Tails Boarding since 2021. I have been a dog lover my entire life, having several furry family members growing up. My mom loved animals and we always had a house full. Just over 3 years ago my mother opened Happy Tails Boarding, a commercial dog kennel just outside of Leoti. Her goal was to have a fully operating boarding and grooming facility within the first year.
My career started at Happy Tails as a kennel technician but we quickly realized that grooming was in my future. I shadowed another groomer for several months and learned all of the nitty gritty of grooming. Which guards, blades, and tools to use, what products are needed, and smaller tasks like nail trims or gland expressions are just a few examples of what I learned during this training period.
With the encouragement of my mom and partner, my career as a professional dog groomer has blossomed and is continuing to grow. My experience working with animals from all walks of life allows me to better serve your pets. I will always listen to your instructions and try my best to groom your pet the way you want them groomed. I truly enjoy making your family member look and feel great and love seeing the pet parents’ reaction when they pick up. I am always growing in this profession, studying new techniques, and learning different ways to handle dogs. If I do not have hands on experience with your specific breed of dog, I research and reach out to my support team for advice prior to your pups scheduled appointment. My long term goal in this profession is to earn my AKC Master Groomer Certificate.
When I am not in the salon, I am a busy mom of three sons and a daughter. My family lives on a small farm by Modoc and we have 5 dogs of our own. Meadow our little Doxiepoo, Abby, Missy, and Lucky that are all healer or healer mixes, and Blue our Pit Bull. We also have goats, pigs, ducks, chickens, and cats. Our family really enjoys the quietness of the country life and love living and serving our Southwest Kansas communities.
